In 1997, The Orchid became Asia's first certified Ecotel Hotel and hence was Asia's first certified eco-friendly five-star hotel. The Orchid has achieved many other environmental awards and certifications for its efforts in environmental protection and awareness such as Green Globe certification and ISO 14001.
